Welcome to my teaching page! I am Ben Lowman, a passionate and experienced music educator specialising in wind instruments. Since 2011, I have dedicated myself to helping students of all ages unlock their musical potential. I hold a BA (Hons) in Jazz from Leeds College of Music (LCoM) and a "Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector" (PTTLS) qualification, reflecting my commitment to high-quality teaching.
My teaching journey has included collaborative projects with esteemed organisations such as Jazz North, Live Music Now, and the North Yorkshire Music Action Zone (NYMAZ). I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of students, including primary and secondary school pupils, university students, and senior learners. This experience spans various settings, from individual classes to large group ensembles, enhancing my ability to connect with students at different stages of their musical journey.
My teaching approach emphasises not only building a strong technical foundation but also understanding the underlying principles of music. This helps create a depth of understanding and long-term enjoyment.
